Deer Lakes Campground Features

  • Open May to September.
  • 12 sites of various lengths.  2 pull through sites.
  • Several sites with tent pads.
  • 1 accessible site and accessible toilet facility.
  • Tents and RVs permitted.
  • Forest and lake setting. Public access fishing at several stocked lakes.
  • No electricity.
  • Water.
  • Vault toilets.
  • Picnic tables.
  • Trash removal.
  • Grills and/or fire grates.
  • Fees: $12 per night for camping unit; $3 per day for day use/picnic use; $2 per bag of trash (for non-registered guests).

Camping at
Deer Lakes


Deer Lakes is a great spot for picnics, camping, fishing, and as a base camp for the amenities along Cebolla Creek.  It is conveniently located near the Powderhorn and La Garita Wilderness Areas.

Public fishing access at Deer Lakes includes several stocked, man-made lakes.

It is located about 13 miles from Lake City, Colorado. 

Elevation is 10,400 feet.

Directions

From Lake City, head south on Highway 149 for 9 miles, almost to the top of Slumgullion Pass.  Turn left onto FS Road 788.  Go about 2 1/2 miles to the road to Deer Lakes (marked with sign).  Take a left onto this road.
